As My Swiss Story turns 10 this June, Iโve been reflecting on the one thing that has remained at the heart of this journey from the very beginning.
Not as a theme for an anniversary month, but as something that has quietly shaped every conversation, gathering and connection weโve created over the last decade.
When I look back on ten years of My Swiss Story, I donโt immediately think about milestones, events, or achievements. I think about people. I think about the conversations that started with uncertainty and ended with connection. I think about the friendships that were formed over a cup of coffee and the moments when someone realised they were not alone in what they were experiencing.
What stayed constant
When My Swiss Story first began, the vision was simple. To create a space where my stories could be shared, where I shared my experiences in Switzerland and where people from different backgrounds could adapt to their changes surroundings. What started as a blog gradually became a community, and that community continued to grow in ways I could never have imagined.

Over time, I realised that people werenโt only coming for the stories. They were also looking for something deeper. They were looking for meaningful connection. They were looking for spaces where they could show up authentically, speak openly, and feel comfortable being themselves. In many ways, that search for connection became one of the strongest foundations of My Swiss Story.
The question beneath the stories
Over the years, Iโve had the privilege of listening to hundreds of stories. Some were stories of moving countries and starting over. Others were stories of career transitions, personal growth, unexpected challenges, or new beginnings. Every journey was unique, yet many of them carried similar emotions beneath the surface.

What I often noticed was that people were not necessarily searching for answers. More often, they were searching for a sense of belonging. They wanted to know that their experiences mattered. They wanted to feel understood without having to explain every detail of their journey. And they wanted to be part of a community where they could connect with others who genuinely cared.
A seat at the table
As life slowly returned to normal, one thing became increasingly clear. People were craving genuine connection. Not another networking event. Not another professional obligation. They were looking for spaces where they could have real conversations and build authentic relationships.

What belonging looks like
Belonging often shows up in small and unexpected ways. It might be the comfort of walking into a room and recognising familiar faces. It might be a conversation that makes you feel understood. It might be meeting someone who shares a similar experience and suddenly feeling a little less alone.

At My Swiss Story, belonging has never been about fitting into a particular mould. It has always been about creating space for people to bring their whole selves into the conversation. Every story matters, every perspective is valuable, and every person deserves to feel welcomed exactly as they are.
Ten years later
As we celebrate ten years of My Swiss Story, I find myself feeling grateful for the countless individuals who have been part of this journey. Together, we have created more than a platform or a series of events. We have built a community rooted in curiosity, empathy, and connection.

Belonging feels like the right theme for this anniversary because it reflects what has always been at the heart of My Swiss Story. It is the thread that connects every story shared, every friendship formed, and every conversation that continues long after an event has ended. And as we look ahead to the future, it remains the value we hope to continue nurturing for years to come.
Because everyone has a story. Everyone wants to feel seen. Everyone deserves a place where they belong.
