There are some journeys you plan, and then there are some that quietly begin… without you even realising how far they’ll go.
When I moved from India to Switzerland with my husband and our five-year-old daughter, everything felt new. A different country, a different pace of life, and a completely unfamiliar environment. In the middle of adapting to it all, I found myself wanting to hold on to these moments, to make sense of them, and to document them in a way that felt personal.
That is how My Swiss Story began.
A Beginning That Was Never Planned
What started as a simple way to document my experiences slowly became something much more meaningful.
One of the earliest reflections of this journey was the blog “Exploring Life in Basel, Switzerland: A Comprehensive Guide to Relocation, Lifestyle, and Travel,” published on 30th June 2016. At the time, it was simply about sharing insights and experiences of building a life in a new country.
There was no grand vision. No roadmap. Just stories.
Over time, My Swiss Story became more than just a blog. It became something deeply personal. Something I nurtured, grew with, and carried forward through different phases of my life. In many ways, it became like a second child.
Building While Balancing It All
In the early years, this journey existed alongside a full-time corporate career.
While working in the corporate world, I also began exploring content creation and influencer work, collaborating with brands, creating experiences, and sharing different aspects of life in Switzerland.
At that stage, My Swiss Story was still evolving. It did not have its own independent website until 2019, and even its dedicated Instagram presence came much later in 2023. Before that, I wrote under the Swiss blog section on my sister’s platform.
It wasn’t structured. It wasn’t linear. But it was consistent.
Growing Beyond Content
As the journey progressed, My Swiss Story started gaining recognition across different platforms.
From interviews like SRF to features on Swiss national television, radio, podcasts, and print media, what began as a personal blog slowly found its place in larger conversations.
Over the years, this journey also extended beyond blogs and content into books:
- Hidden Gems of Switzerland – Volume 1 (2019)
- Hidden Gems of Switzerland – Volume 2 (2020)
- The Ultimate Guide to Finding a Job in Switzerland for Expats, Career Changers & Dreamers Alike (June 2025)
Each of these reflected a different phase of the journey, from discovering Switzerland more deeply to helping others navigate their own paths within it.
The Turning Point for My Swiss Story
Then came a phase that changed everything.
During COVID, like many others, I experienced a sense of isolation and distance. What started as a space to document life slowly began to transform into something more meaningful, a space for connection.
This shift led to the beginning of Coffee with a Purpose in 2022.
What started as a simple initiative became the foundation for something much larger. My Swiss Story was no longer just about content. It became about people, conversations, and shared experiences.
From a Person’s story to now of Hundreds.
Over time, My Swiss Story evolved into a platform that extended beyond the digital space.
From Basel to cities like Zurich, Zug, Lausanne, Geneva, and Valais, it grew into something that brought people together, not just online, but in real life.
It was no longer just about documenting a journey. It had become a space where many journeys intersected.
Deepening the Journey
As My Swiss Story continued to evolve, so did the way it connected with people.
Over time, it became clear that the journey was not just about reaching more people, but about building more meaningful and lasting connections with those who were already a part of it.
This led to the introduction of memberships on 5th January 2026.
It was not about monetising the platform, but about creating a space for deeper engagement, where conversations could go beyond the surface and experiences could become more intentional.
It marked another step in the journey, one that focused on depth over scale, and on strengthening the sense of belonging that My Swiss Story has always stood for.
A Decade Later
Somewhere along the way, what began as a simple blog turned into a decade-long journey.
Ten years of stories, transitions, growth, and moments that were never planned but always meaningful and while so much has changed over the years, the essence of My Swiss Story has remained the same.
Reaching a decade of My Swiss Story is a milestone that brings both reflection and gratitude.
