It’s almost the most wonderful time of the year; so, before the holiday rush totally consumes you, here are a few of my picks for the season. Gift Giving isn’t the easiest of things you know, and I have always felt the closer the friend/family member – the harder it is.
Disclaimer: None of the items listed in this guide, have been sponsored – however, my aim has always been to include more and more independent women businesses so, you will see many of them in this list.
Advent calendars to watch out for!
“An Advent calendar helps countdown the days until Christmas, usually with a small item or devotional phrase that is revealed on each day.” (Source: FTD) I learned about advent calendars only after moving to Switzerland, and I find them the perfect way to “run-up” to Christmas.
For my daughter I always create one myself, it’s become a little tradition between me and her! I buy 24 small presents for her and the excitement followed by the big smile for 24 days is prize enough. 😊
You could buy small presents from Manor, Coop City, Globus, Sostrene Greene, Pfaune – there are plenty of stores that cater to moms like me.
The pre-made ones that I have bought have been an act of self-love or a gift for someone extremely close. Here are a couple of my favorites:

All of these can be easily purchased online or from your nearest departmental stores. The only problem now: the existence of way too many options!! (I really wanted to add more, but then…there is no limit, the chocolate ones from Laderach, Lindt, and Sprungli are among my favorites too!)
Food, Gourmet and Wine
My second category is my favorite one, and I have had some interesting discoveries this year.
#1 Apéro Box and Gourmet Box from Latelier-du-fromage
Especially for Christmas, they are now offering a box with a boutique Champagne, Swiss artisanal cheeses, and a surprise! The ladies behind these artisan boxes have also been featured on our website.

Each of their usual apero box with wine, 2 varieties of cheese, and snacks cost 61 CHF each. You could buy a 12-month subscription for your family or loved ones. Individual gift boxes are also an option.
#2 Hopp Schwiiz Päckli
Are you looking for a very Swiss gift, then what could be more swiss than cheese, smoked meat, and beers! This box was specially curated for the soccer games but serves as a great option as a traditional gift.

The gift box costs CHF 25,90 and can be bought online.
#3 Maison Graze
For me, this one has been the discovery of this season. I have not tried this one yet, but I am very close to making my first order for someone at home so that I can get my hand on all the deliciousness.

“Grazing is the new food trend that is here to stay, born in Australia and taking over the world. Discover now this unique experience, elegantly wrapped up in a box and delivered to your doorstep.” – on Trend, Maison Graze
My recommendation is the SMALL CHEESE AND CHARCUTERIE BOX which costs 85 CHF.
#4 Bean to bar box – Swiss Edition
This is another one that has caught my eye this season. I mean come on, they had me with “chocolate”. Here’s the one that I would send as a gift to a loved one, it’s handpicked, swiss, and of high quality. My recommendation is available online and is priced at 68.50 CHF.
#5 And my final recommendation is the ‘Tasty Temptations’ Gift set from The Secret Sauce
The box comprises a cooking sauce, chili flakes, chimichurri, and other exciting stuff! This could be a perfect gift for a foodie, and it comes with a greeting card. The box is a collaboration product between many women business owners.

You can buy “tasty temptations gift set” online and it is priced at 49 CHF.
I had not realized that this gift guide would run this long, and hence, I decided to do 2 parts this time around. Tell me here in the comments section or on my social media channels; your recommendations for the holiday season.
Stay tuned for Part 2!
